Dating game insane clown posse music video
Insane Clown Posse (ICP) is an American hip hop duo composed of Violent J (Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (originally 2 Dope; Joseph Utsler).
Founded in Detroit in 1989, Insane Clown Posse performs a style of hardcore hip hop known as horrorcore and is known for its elaborate live performances.
All the chaos took its toll, as J suffered a panic attack in April 1998 while on-stage in Minnesota.
However, all of the publicity helped expand the group's cult following to the point where its next album, the 1999 concept record The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, debuted in the Top Five.
On the day of release in 1997, however, Hollywood pulled the record, citing obscene lyrics and gruesome content -- possibly a move by its owner, Disney, to deflect criticism of its practices by the Southern Baptist Federation.
In a bizarre twist, yet another major label, Island Records, stepped in to release the album and capitalize on the notoriety ICP had garnered.
Several songs were recorded with the intention of releasing them on The Great Milenko.
The Great Milenko is the fourth studio album by American hip hop group Insane Clown Posse, released on June 24, 1997, by Hollywood Records, in association with Psychopathic Records. As the fourth Joker's Card in the group's Dark Carnival mythology, the album's lyrics focus on the titular Great Milenko, an illusionist who tries to trick individuals into greed and other such sins. The album was recorded and initially released by the Disney-owned record label Hollywood Records.ICP originally formed as a Gangsta Rap group called "Inner City Posse," derived from the name of a Detroit gang formed by Bruce. The music group's increasing popularity resulted in the gang becoming the target of growing violence, leading its members to abandon gang life and adopt a Geto Boys-esque horror rap style.
